A. Patterns and Relationships By the end of 5th grade, students should know that: Mathematics is the study of many kinds of patterns, including numbers and shapes and operations on them. Mathematical ideas can be represented concretely, graphically, and symbolically. B. Mathematics, Science, and Technology There are no benchmarks for this subsection at this grade level. C. Mathematical Inquiry By the end of 5th grade, students should know that: Numbers and shapes and operations on them help to describe and predict things about the world around us.
