Water Treatment Cycle

http://www.epa.gov/safewater/kids/watertreatmentplant/index.html

Description

This resource allows students to follow a drop of water from the source (in this case a lake) through the treatment process. The following four steps are highlighted: coagulation; sedimentation; filtration; and storage.

Using the Resource

After viewing the page and following the water treatment steps, students can discuss and speculate about what happens to water after the storage stage. Students can also discuss how water that is treated for human use remains part of the water cycle.
