The Robot Zoo
http://www.thetech.org/exhibits/online/robotzoo/

Description
This site provides a virtual road show for The Robot Zoo. A wide range of tools can be used to explore the biomechanics of robot animals. Robot animals and hands-on activities illustrate real-life characteristics such as how a chameleon changes colors, how a giant squid propels itself, and how a fly walks on the ceiling. Students learn by immersing themselves in the world of the creatures, and comparing and contrasting the robotic models with artistic renderings of actual animals.

Using the Resource
This is a great way to explore the inner world of creatures such as chameleons, squids, bats, and flies. Throughout the site, students are able to actually enter the animal's world in a realistic manner, learning as an animal cares for its young, captures food, travels about, and seeks protection. The combination of robots and animals is useful in instructing students about how animals move and eat. An online teacher's guide extends the learning through related activities. Follow-up activities might include a visit to a museum or zoo.
